The Goodyear Engineered Products Vintner Gray EPDM beverage hose assembly is suitable for conveying wine, beer, potable water, or other non-oily liquid food material, and consists of a white chlorobutyl tube for resistance to weathering; and a gray, purple-striped Versigard (EPDM, ethylene propylene diene monomer) synthetic rubber cover for resistance to weathering, ozone, and mild chemicals. It meets Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) requirements for food handling, as well as 3-A Sanitary standard 18-03 for transfer of potable water. Its spiral-plied synthetic fabric with monofilament helix reinforcement provides the strength for its maximum working pressure rating of 250 pounds per square inch (psi) and near-full vacuum rating of 27" Hg. This hose can withstand temperatures ranging from -30 to +220 degrees F (-34 to +104 degrees C), and comes equipped with two factory-installed stainless steel cam and groove couplings. It is suitable for in-plant and tank truck non-oily liquid food material transfer applications.
Industrial hoses and hose assemblies transfer or convey air or liquid in hose systems. When selecting industrial hoses or hose assemblies, use the STAMPED method to help determine the type of hose needed:
S= Size (ID, OD, and length)
T= Temperature (maximum and minimum temperatures of material being transported)
A= Application (industry or process)
M= Material (to be conveyed, type and concentration)
P= Pressure (maximum working pressure)
E= Ends (type of end connectors or couplings on hose)
D= Delivery method (volume and velocity)
The inside diameter of the hose must be adequate to keep pressure loss to a minimum and avoid damage to the hose due to heat generation or excessive turbulence. The hose must be capable of withstanding the minimum and maximum temperatures that occur within the hose system. Some applications require specialized oils or chemicals to be conveyed through the system. In this case, hose selection must ensure compatibility of the hose tube, cover, couplings and O-rings with the fluid used. Industrial hoses and hose assemblies are used in systems such as air compressors, automatic manufacturing operations, aircraft controls, and tire installation in industries including agriculture, mining, road construction, firefighting, and aviation.
